There is a magic place in Naples, a museum famous for housing some of the most interesting events and exhibitions about contemporary art, music, photography, installations, performances, and paintings. This unique place is called PAN (Palace of the Arts of Naples) and it is located off the beaten path in the wonderful Via dei Mille, in the lovely District of Chiaja.
On the 25th September has been inaugurated at the Pan a brand new exhibition dedicated to the genius and the talent of Joan Miró, one of the most influential artists of the 20th century. Visitors will immerse themselves in the world of the famous and controversial Spanish artist, walking through a huge collection of more than 80 artworks including paintings, sketches, sculptures, collages, and tapestries. All the artworks cover sixty years of Miró’s career, from 1924 to 1981, marking a particular and unique language of expression that deeply influenced the art of the XX century.
The event goes by the title of “Miró, the languages of the signs” and will be open to the public until the end of February 2020 and it has been made possible thanks to the cooperation between the city of Naples and the Portuguese Foundation Serralves di Porto where the works of Miró are safely treasured. The same masterpieces have been indeed admired by over 300,000 visitors, when they were presented for the first time at the Serralves Museum in Porto between October 2016 and June 2017. As stated by the museum itself “with this touring exhibition, the Serralves Museum of Contemporary Art fulfills its mission do disseminate the Miró Collection, by means of a comprehensive and diversified travelling exhibition programme and international coproduction”.

The visit to this unique exhibition can be combined with a nice walking along Via dei Mille, an important shopping street in Naples in the Chiaja District where the Pan Museum is located. This long road, mostly famous for the presence of important boutiques of well known Italian fashion brands, offers rare examples of buildings in the liberty style built between the 19th and the 20th centuries together with nice cafe, bars, and restaurants where relaxing after a day touring the city.
