Have you ever heard about the Florence Jazz Fringe Festival (FJFF)?

It is one of the most successful and lively festivals in Italy, born from an idea of Furio Di Castri, an Italian musician, who during the first edition was able to register 25,000 admissions, a considerable achievement undoubtedly. FJFF will be back for the Florentine Summer 2018 from 5 to 9 September: 5 days for 70 hours of music, 150 artists who will perform in 12 places for over 50 performances, with a program that will celebrate and enhance the originality of music.

FJFF is really a kind of festival since it overcomes the traditional concept of musical performances by mingling artists and people together in one of the most popular district of Florence, that is the Oltrarno: from San Miniato to Piazza del Carmine, from Piazza Santo Spirito to the Sala Vanni and to the clubs that become jazz clubs for the occasion, without forgetting the Arno river itself, a superb and breathtaking location where the pure magic of jazz will resound.

The inauguration will take place on September 5th, at 9:00 pm at the Basilica of San Miniato al Monte, where Fabrizio Bozzo and Julian Oliver Mazzariello will play their music on a special occasion, that is the celebration for the 1,000 years since the foundation of the Basilica. The kermesse will continue from 6th to 9^th of September with swing dance lessons at Piazza del Carmine and the music of Francesco Bearzatti and Mauro Ottolini, two creative experimenters, composers and great arrangers.

FJFF is really an innovative and sustainable event in which the involvement of the public and the music of many prestigious names of Italian jazz melt together. A festival that is also a party for the public, involved by the afternoon animations, concerts, DJ sets and jam sessions that will follow until late at night.
