Additional info

If you are in Sorrento with your family or friends, Leisure Italy also offers a great “Capri at leisure” private tour directly from your place in Sorrento including a private boat all day long.

If you would like to see the Blue Grotto this is possible but it may take some time so it should be decided on tour with your guide and your skipper. In case the weather does not permit the private boat tour around the island the alternative route will be visiting Anacapri and taking the chairlift up to the top of Mt Solaro.

Practical Info

Your guide will meet you at Naples or Sorrento fast-boat Port. Please let us know if you need to be picked up somewhere else in town.

There are rides to Capri every 30 minutes and it takes about 50 minutes from Naples or 25 minutes from Sorrento to reach Capri island.

Itinerary

The tour is private therefore we can set it up as you wish. Here is a possible flow of the day:

Our first activity once landed on Capri will be the private boat ride around part of the island. That is the best way to enjoy the beauty of Capri. The boat is a traditional gozzo wooden boat, locally crafted. Your skipper will show you the most gorgeous natural cliffs and grottoes. Marvel at the electric blue and green colors of the ocean! The boat is provided with towels and snorkeling gear in case you feel like swimming in the Mediterranean. The boat tour will take about 2 hrs. In case you would be interested in visiting the Blue Grotto let us know, please be aware this activity is subject to weather conditions and, sometimes, to the number of people visiting it in the meantime.

Back on land, we can either take a taxi or the funicolare (cable railway) to reach Capri town, the old beating heart of the island. Capri town and its piazzetta is the place to be in Italy, so why not sit down at one of its nice cafés and try to see some celebrities? Please let your guide know if you would like lunch reservations.

From Capri village, you can certainly walk to the famous Gardens of Augustus or, if you like to get away from the crowd, walk to Punta Tragara to admire the Faraglioni Rocks rising from the deep blue sea. If you like hiking please ask your guide for the massive Roman Villa Jovis of Emperor Tiberius – just be aware this activity takes about one hour each way to reach this beautiful spot on the edge of Mt Tiberius.

In case the weather does not permit the private boat tour around the island the alternative route will be visiting Anacapri and taking the chairlift up to the top of Mt Solaro.

There will be time also for some relaxation, time at leisure and shopping if you wish.

Later in the afternoon, your private tour of Capri will go back to Marina Grande to make your way back.

There are guides and then there is Fabrizo Belleni. A highly trained professional,he is wonderfully patient and skilled to answer a myriad of questions . Having studied in North America he speaks idiomatic English. He showed considerable flexibility to adjust our itinerary when we expressed interest in a specific town or subject. He is both a registered guide and a registered driver with his own Mercedes van; most guides are not registered drivers.

Italy is a beautiful country and is a magnet for tourists / visitors so one must be prepared and plan for crowded roads especially during national holidays and weekends in small venues such as the Amalfi Coast or Capri. Follow Fabrizio’s advice and start your daily tours early.

We had a fabulous experience with Guiseppe! When we booked the tour, I had shared with Guiseppe the sites we wanted to visit. He suggested meeting earlier so we could see the Blue Grotto first, and then proceed with the rest of our day. He gave us options on places to visit. He is very knowledgeable and made the day fun for the adults as well as the teenagers. We would recommend Guiseppe and Leisure Italy to everyone!
