Discover Capri’s timeless beauty and its hidden secrets. Marvel at overhanging cliffs, electric blue sea color, and breathtaking scenery. Pamper yourself and experience the island from your private traditional gozzo wooden boat.
You will be met at your hotel or at the port by your guide to reach by car the small pier of Marina della Lobra where your private traditional “gozzo boat” is waiting for you.
Your boat is supplied with WC, drinks, towels, snorkeling gears, a sandwich, and free wi-fi. There will be a guide with you all day, apart from the skipper.
Here is a possible itinerary for the day:
The navigation starts along the spectacular Sorrento Coast: olive orchards and small scenic settlements are spread out along the Peninsula of Sorrento. That is just to warm up your camera!
You will approach the island from its eastern cape, right beneath the cliff where the stunning remains of the villa of the emperor Tiberius are still standing.
The tour is flexible on your wishes, however, you will probably be spending the morning boating along the southern side of the island, the most spectacular and sheer. Your skipper will slowly approach the several natural grottoes with the amazing colors Capri is famous for. If you feel like it, you can decide to jump in the water for a refreshing swim. The boast is provided with a little shower and towels.
Upon request, you can also relax with a morning visit of the Blue Grotto but please consult your tour guide about that.
Around noon you shall touch the ground with your guide at Marina Grande, the main entrance to Capri. A short ride on the “Funicolare” cable railway will bring you to the city center within five minutes. Here is the glamorous “piazzetta’, the old beating heart of the island. This is the place to see and to be seen in Italy, so why not sit down at one of its nice cafés and see the world goes by? Please ask your guide for some nice lunch suggestions.
During the afternoon your guide will suggest a visit to the spectacular Gardens of Augustus or if you like to get away from the crowd, walk to Punta Tragara to admire the “Faraglioni Rocks” rising from the deep blue sea. If you feel like walking a lot please ask your guide for the massive Roman Villa Jovis of Emperor Tiberius – but just be aware that it takes about one hour each way to reach this beautiful spot on the edge of Mt Tiberius. Or simply you may want to take your time just to immerse yourself in the local atmosphere, exploring Capri’s many beautiful boutiques and having a nice gelato! There may also be an opportunity to visit Capri’s ancient perfume factory store upon request.
You will finally get back to the Marina Grande via taxi to board your private boat and make your way back to Sorrento.
Tour Reviews
We went to Capri on a private tour with our three boys ages 12, 11, and 9. Federica, our tour guide navigated the day beautifully knowing the boys wanted to maximize their time swimming and we wanted to see a little bit of the island. Federica arranged for us to see the island by boat but allowed for stops at different grottos to swim. She helped us to get a quick lunch at an amazing restaurant and fast tracked us up to the garden where we were able to see some beautiful views! She then got us back down to the beach where the boys spent the rest of our time swimming. Federica did a great job balancing seeing the island with swimming.
