Itinerary

Your private driver-guide will meet you where requested in Naples.

Scenic Drive

We will reach the top of the peninsula of Posilllipo; we are on the north-west end of the gulf of Naples. Posillipo was once home to the wealthy Romans; today, it still is the most exclusive place to live in town. You can get off the car and admire the scenery. On the left, the bay of Naples, Mount Vesuvius, Sorrento and Capri; to the right, the islands of Procida and Ischia, the bay of Pozzuoli and its many volcanoes. Astonishing!

The Royal City

Your private excursion will then move toward the city center. We will see three castles from the Middle-Ages: Castel Sant’ElmoCastel dell’Ovo and Castel Nuovo. If you wish, you can leave the vehicle to discover on foot the area of the Royal Palace, to see the San Carlo Opera HouseThe Galleria and the bursting pedestrian area of Via Toledo. There are plenty of old Grand Cafés: you can taste the very famous Espresso Napoletano or the delicious “sfogliatella” pastry!

Naples Old Town

The last stop of your private tour of Naples will bring you to the Ancient Town, the area listed by the United Nations. You can explore Spaccanapoli and the little tiny roads dating back to the Greek and Roman time. You can visit some of its precious churches, or simply observe how life still goes on after 2500 years of continous life! If you opted also for our guided service, this part of the tour will permit you to visit with your tour-guide some of the hidden pearls of the neapolitan craftmanship.

I wanted to thank Vincenzo Coppola with Leisure Italy for organizing our customized and private one-day tour of Pompeii and Naples for my family of four (2 adults and 2 children, ages 11 and 13). Vincenzo was so helpful, offering exactly the option we wanted for our limited time, guiding us on which high speed train to take from Rome and answering my many questions in the most cheerful way. Our tour guide Natalia and driver Pasquale met us at the Naples central train station and could not have been any more friendly, helpful and welcoming. Natalia was probably the most informative tour guide we had in Italy. She was an encyclopedia of knowledge! we spent almost 3 hours in Pompeii and felt so fortunate we had a private guide. We enjoyed our time with her and learned a lot. Then we went to Naples and enjoyed lunch with Natalia at a restaurant featuring authentic Napoletana pizza (our request, which Vincenzo organized). Next up was a driving tour of Naples and a walking tour of the historic district. Pasquale kept us safe and cool in the car! We saw parts of Naples we would not necessarily have seen on our own, and again, Natalia was a fount of information. She was great about tailoring her information for our kids. Vincenzo organizing the trip made our experience educational, efficient, enjoyable and truly memorable!

Giuseppe D’Angelo is one of my favorite tour guides: 40-ish in year, a walking Wikipedia of names, dates, periods and events no matter where you are in Naples or what building you are near. He is personable, passionate, kind and considerate. He wants to maximize your touring value and show you his city. Would I book a tour again with Giuseppe? Yes of course without hesitation. Would I recommend him? Yes of course.
